Peasant Furniture Showcase

I am in love with this hand painted furniture! I wanted to do a part two to showcase West German "Peasant" hand painted furniture that preceded Dora Kuhn.

You can see the paint is darker blue.

Other styles include The Tryon Toy Makers hand painted furniture. This set was made sometime between 1915 and 1949 when the company was sold.

The following set has no floral motif but it is German circa 1940s.

This pretty hand painted five piece bedroom set can be seen on pages 115 and 116 of Jean Mahan's Doll Furniture Identification Book. She believes that since a large number of these pieces have appeared on the secondary market here in Dallas, that this furniture could have been made as an exclusive for Neiman Marcus. This furniture is often mistaken for Madame Alexander furniture and came in two sizes; one for 8" dolls and one for 10"to 12" dolls. This set is the larger size. These hand painted flower designs are in pink. This furniture also came in yellow, blue and red.
